Duke Vs. Porn

3 News videos I chose in my liking on this topic was Take Part live, CNN, The View. Take part live showed concern towards the duke students Idea in using porn as her way to pay for her tuition. They questioned this action in a way of “Do we really want students to feel this is their only way out?” It shows compassion in this students choice but also gives the notion that maybe we need to look at this closely as far as why tuition is so much that it drives the student to such lengths. I liked that they brought up the fact that she is no longer working in the industry and that she is now a Doctor. Because it shows that it wasn’t her way of living and her choice was school related. She had her dreams and created them regardless of what it took. CNN’s video I like because they brought in someone who was an expert on the subject of sexuality. It brought in a different view to not be so quick to shame this young girl for her choice to reach her dream. The reporter kept trying to down talk the student but saying how empowered must she feel if she’s straight lying to her parents? The expert made sure the reporter knew that it was ok for us as individuals to be in control of our own sexual behaviors. The View brought they student on as a guest. It was nice to finally be able to hear her side of the story and not prejudgments from others. The main interviewers were shocked in the fact she’s been watching porn since she was young, while the man who was a guest s was Jenny McCarthy who were curious about her choice and asked her legit questions on why she chose this path. Neither one had prejudgments towards her and I think that was what she needed to feel like she had a voice that was being heard finally. While I believe each show had their reasonings behind why they felt the way they did, and some had prejudgments towards her, They all were able to reach different areas of the subject. Why is a young girl subjecting herself to this, Why is tuition something that causing stress levels to push someone into this industry and Showing how this girl created her own dream doing what she felt was best. And I think that’s what is important! She had a goal and set her mind to it and her dream was met.
