Boys girls? Blue pink...why?

Who claimed that cars were for boys and dolls were for girls? Actually lets go a step further and say who claimed that blue was for boys and pink was for girls? We are now living in a world where this is slowly fading into the past. And within good reason I believe. I believe thinking narrow can be more harmful than useful to a child. I remember being a child and wanting Star Wars toys than having dolls. And I raised my own child to those ways of thinking as well. I wanted to promote that her ideas were broader than being trapped into a societal way of being. I wanted to know that all aspects of her thoughts/mind/brain are at her expense. I also believe that the reason people thought in those manners was due to the fact they didn’t want their children to get confused as to who they were. “How come your helmets not pink? ...its not a girl one,” is more of what they were used to hearing. That generation grew up in a society that looked down on a young boy who played with dolls or a young girl who wanted to play ball. It was unusual and not appropriate to that generation. I am sure that this serves them more than it does the child. It was a selfish way of thinking. Now, this younger generation is thinking outside the box and pushing the limit with letting their individual think for themselves.
